Domestic business will face losses from crisis
THOUSANDS of pounds worth of domestic business has been lost because of the fuel crisis with the impact expected to be felt for many weeks to come.
The English Tourism Council, which has conducted a survey of regional tourist boards on the fuel crisis, said people were cancelling holidays as far off as November. One hotel reported a loss of £17,000 in conference bookings.
The British Tourist Authority said it had been inundated with calls from overseas, particularly the US, and admitted UKtourism had been “hit very hard” from the crisis.
