World Wallett Travel purchase
WEST Midlands Co-op has acquired the five branches of World Wallett Travel for an undisclosed sum.
But it will close two of the shops, in Bloxwich and Darlaston, where it already has outlets.
The three remaining agencies, in Sedgley, Aldridge and Great Barr will be rebranded to Co-op, giving the West Midlands chain 23 shops.
All 24 World Wallett Travel staff will remain but founders Bob and Jan Wallett will leave.
West Midlands travel division controller Geoff Hurmson said: “These are established, well run businesses, giving us a presence in three new areas.”
* Travelcare has completed the purchase of six-branch Lancashire-based Destinations Travel for an undisclosed sum. The chain has an annual turnover of £8 million and all staff will be retained. Travelcare now has 310 shops and is planning more acquisitions.
