Wightlink to add activity break product

ISLE of Wight ferry operator Wightlink is expanding its activity breaks selection for next year after seeing keen interest in cycling breaks introduced this year.

The operator said its holiday arm, Wightlink Holidays, will be promoting paragliding breaks, available on the island’s south coast, through specialist company High Adventure.

As well as the cycling holidays, which clients can tailor-make, staying in bed-and-breakfast accommodation en route, the operator promotes bird watching, wildlife and walking itineraries offered by specialist companies on the island.

Wightlink head of marketing Janet Saville said: “The Isle of Wight is attracting growing numbers of people whohave switched on to the fact that it is an active person’s mecca.

“The island offers walking, cycling, windsurfing, sailing and extreme sports to rival any in the UK.

“Attracting this market is an excellent way to build business away from the summer holiday peak season,” she added.
