Operator to offer bookings facility

COSMOS Flights division will be launching a dedicated seat-only booking facility on the Cosmos Internet site.

In the next three to six months, Cosmos Flights will be available to agents and the public on www.cosmos-holidays.co.uk. Seat-only flights will also be available through other Internet portals.

Cosmos Flights director Stuart Jackson denied he was looking to bypass agents and said the move onto the Internet was just another avenue of distribution.

Meanwhile, Cosmos Flights has seen strong growth over the summer and is expecting to pull in sales from its winter destinations.

Sales for this summer increased by 28%, with the Turkish resorts of Dalaman and Bodrum selling well, as did the Greek destinations of Corfu, Crete and Rhodes.

Sales for mainland Spain are up 14% following a strong summer.

For winter 2000/2001, the seat-only specialist said there is a strong demand for the Canaries and the Algarve which is a popular favourite for winter over the months of November, March and April.

Jackson said more and more people are investing in timeshare villas and apartments and are booking privately owned villas in a bid to create their own independent holidays.

“We had a minor expansion plan in place for 2000/2001 which has increased the number of destinations from 5% to 10%,” he said.
