Hire for Lower mix-up still leaves me waiting

Hire for Lower – there’s a laugh! I booked a car with the company in June for my own personal holiday.

I am 21 years old, so thought I would have to pay a higher rate of insurance.

Hire for Lower told me this was not the case, so I jumped at the chance to save myself a considerable amount of money. Then the problems started.

First Iwas overcharged on my credit card and had to ring Hire for Lower to get credit.

When no voucher was sent, it had to be faxed to me at the last minute.

When I arrived in Miami to collect the car, I was told that it would not be released to me until Ihad paid the surcharge for under 25s. Again I had to use my credit card to pay the additional cost.

I called my office from Miami and asked a colleague to ring Hire for Lower to sort it out on my behalf.

She was told that originally the car should have been booked through Budget which has no under-age surcharge. Because someone had not followed the correct procedures the car had not been booked.

The reservation was finally made with Dollar, which does have an under-age charge.

When I returned home, I contacted Hire for Lower and was told my complaint was being investigated.

One month later I was told a refund would be sent to me at my office.

Two weeks later, it still had not arrived.

I called again and was told the company would cancel the original cheque and send me another one.

A week later, the cheque still had not arrived so again I called Hire for Lower.Nobody was available to take my call and Iwas told someone would phone me back.

That was six weeks ago. I am still waiting for a phone call – or a cheque.
