Call-centre operator establishes last-minute bookings phoneline
CALL-centre specialist Holidays By Phone has created a dedicated Holiday Hotline for last-minute bookings which it claims can undercut high-street travel agents.
The new phoneline has been dubbed an ‘express check-out’ for holidaymakers wanting departures within 48 hours.
Managing director Steve Endacott said agreements are in place from selected tour operators to cut already discounted holidays by a further £50.
He said: “This summer, operators have been trying to hold prices high and have been using operations like Holidays by Phone to fill last-minute availability at heavily discounted prices.”
“We have decided to create a specialist team that will concentrate solely on this type of business.
“Customers booking a holiday this late should be given priority, since they are much more likely to be converted into a booking than a customer just ringing to check general availability.”
There are also plans to launch Internet and WAP advertising services to further promote the new venture.
Meanwhile, Endacott will launch a campaign next month, highlighting customers’ ability to book a holiday from their mobile phone until 10pm.
