* davies confirms role at travelchest.com
Former Airtours director Roger Davies has been confirmed as chairman of Internet company travelchest.com, which launched in June (Travel Weekly June 19). Davies is believed to have talked to a number of Internet companies before making his decision.
* advantage recruits new members
Advantage Travel Centres has recruited four new members,with a combined total of 16 high-street agents. They are four-branch Courtney Airsavers, Tara Travel with eight shops, three-branch Apollo Business Travel and Many Happy Returns, with one branch.
* clifford travel opens third office
Scotland-based Clifford International has opened its third office to cater exclusively for business travel customers. The new offices, in Galashiels in the Scottish borders, will employ three staff. Clifford International already has a business travel centre and leisure-only agency in Glasgow.
* go starts new flights to tenerife
Go has started a service to Tenerife with four flights a week. The move marks the first time a low-cost scheduled service airline has flown to the island. Prices start at £148 return, including taxes.
* GBTA meeting to change election rules
The Guild of Business Travel Agents will hold an extraordinary general meeting next month to change the rules of its election. GBTA chairman Don Lunn is due to step down next January but so far, no candidates have come forward to take the post. The move will relax the criteria for election and widen the pool of candidates.
