P&O CRUISES’ ship Oriana has resumed sailing after being
damaged by a freak wave in the Atlantic.
The £200 million liner has left Southampton Docks and is now
on a cruise to the Canary Islands.
P&O Sales and marketing director Carol Marlow said: “Ongoing
repairs to the cabins will be continuing during the cruise, but it is in a very
localised area and passengers will not
be affected.”
Oriana, which had been on a New York to Southampton cruise,
arrived at Southampton Docks at the weekend. It had been struck by a massive 50ft
wave while sailing in severe weather conditions last Thursday. Several windows on
the vessel were smashed by the wave and some cabins were damaged.
Three passengers suffered minor injuries and four were treated
for shock following the incident.
