Concorde’s first supersonic flight was on October 1, 1969.


Fares are £3,619 per person one-way to New York or £6,290 return; a day return costs £6,046. Fares to Barbados are £3,181 per person one way, £6,362 return. All prices exclude tax and are valid up to the end of March.


On take off, Concorde reaches 225mph in 30 seconds.


Concorde’s cruising speed is 1,350mph.


Concorde travels through the sound barrier at twice the speed of sound.


Concorde flies on the edge of space at an altitude of 60,000ft, where there are no variations in weather.


When flying westbound, Concorde arrives in New York at least an hour earlier than when it departed London.


Some 80% of Concorde’s passengers are male, 43% of those are managing directors or senior managers and the average age of passengers is 43 years old.


Twenty Concordes have been built, seven of which are in the BA fleet.
