Magic Travel Group set to move office

MAGIC Travel Group is closing its London office and relocating to Kingston in a fresh upheaval within Thomson’s specialist holidays division.

The move, to be completed by the end of the year, will be followed by further changes next April when Richmond-based Thomson Breakaway becomes part of the division and also relocates to Kingston, the home of Thomson’s specialist operators.

Magic has already endured a turbulent year with the departure of key directors and the axing of its France and cities programmes.

Magic’s 170 staff, currently based in Hammersmith, were said to be shocked at the plans.

Breakaway, which operates a cities and Disneyland Paris programme, has until now been left independent of Thomson and the specialist division.

The 90 staff in Richmond will also be offered jobs in nearby Kingston.

A source said: “Breakaway has been performing well but will benefit even more from being part of a larger division.”
