Las Vegas looks to cash in on its glitz and glamour appeal
THE showbiz approach to tourism that Nevada enjoys through the gaming resort of Las Vegas will dominate its stand.
Although the southwestern state is capturing greater attention as a touring and ski destination, the US top desert resort is aiming to increase its status as a favourite location for the British market.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is leading a delegation of 25 representing the fantasy resort hotels springing up along the Strip, as well as airlines and ground operators featuring scenic flights and shopping trips.
Stella Clery-Ackland, managing director of UK representative Cellet Travel Services, said: “The size of the Las Vegas delegation illustrates the importance of the UK market. It is the resort’s second-largest overseas market “
Initiatives being unveiled next week include a new marketing campaign for 2001.
