Carriers set to raise awareness of services

Airlines highlight reasons to celebrate

Air Jamaica

Air Jamaica is using this year’s World Travel Market to raise awareness of its non-stop scheduled champagne service from Heathrow to Jamaicaand to highlight its continuing growth and routeexpansion.

During January-August this year, the airlinecarried 74,000 passengers on its London route compared with 50,000 during the same period in 1999. April was a very good month when, for the first time, the airline earned a larger market share from the UK to Jamaica than British Airways. Its share of the market was 33%, compared to BA’s 29%.

This shift reflects the Jamaican national carrier’s overall worldwide share to the destination, that has advanced to 48%, three points up on last year and ahead of any single carrier.
