On-line firms told to keep sites updated or risk losing business
INTERNET firms will not survive simply by relying on technology alone, delegates heard.
Travelchest.com chief executive Nigel Carpenter said too many start-ups believe that being an on-line business is enough to ensure success.
“Their only real difference is that they are an Internet company but that is not enough,” he said. “There must be a compelling business rationale.”
“Internet companies must offer something new for the consumer or they will struggle,” he added. Carpenter said human contact will remain important for the public and reiterated his plans to open up to 40 Travelchest shops on the high street. Personal travel consultants will also visit the homes of customers to plan their holiday.
“I believe a physical presence is vital,” he said.
