* poll shows public awareness of ABta
ABTA is the most widely recognised of all the trade bodies, according to research. Of 1,000 people questioned by MORI, 87% said they had heard of the association. Some 8% had heard of the Association of Independent Tour Operators and 62% had heard of Air Travel Organiser’s Licence.
* research reveals fall in late bookings
The number of people who book holidays at the last minute has fallen over the last two years, according to ABTAresearch. In the last 12 months, 19% of people questioned booked a holiday less than a month before departure, compared to 22% in 1998.
* internet accounts for 17% of sales
The Internet accounts for 17% of travel bookings made over the last 12 months. Of respondents taking part in the MORIpoll, 6% had used it to book a package holiday, while 3% had used it to book their last holiday.
