Golden Sun completes Airglobe deal

INDEPENDENT operator Golden Sun has acquired fellow Greece specialist Airglobe for an undisclosed sum.

All staff have been retained and relocated from Airglobe’s north London offices to Golden Sun in nearby Kentish Town.

Golden Sun marketing director Tony Blakey said the Airglobe brand will also be kept.

“There is little product overlap between the two,” he said. “Airglobe specialises in villas with pools and hotels which will complement our product.”

The acquisition comes as Golden Sun revealed plans to rapidly increase capacity next year from 165,000 to 230,000. Blakey said it wanted to reach 400,000 and was looking to extend its number of destinations. He said the addition of long-haul product was likely.
