Specialist urges agents to widen clients’ horizons

Operator promotes alternatives to main cities

Independent Canada specialist Canada Flights and Holidays is urging agents to look beyond the main Canadian cities as the only destinations the country can offer.

Canada Flights and Holidays works closely with the provincial Canadian tourism boards and is encouraging UK travel agents to make recommendations to customers that, once the main holiday is over, visitors could add a further week on to their trip.

Canada Flights and Holidays product general manager Scotland Karen Cree said:”There is so much more to Ontario than Toronto and Niagara Falls.

“It is a pity that more tourists do not take the opportunity to travel a couple of hours outside Toronto to experience other areas such as Algonquin national park, one of the jewels of Ontario.”

In conjunction with Canada 3000 and other scheduled carriers, Canada Flights and Holidays offers low-cost flights throughout Canada.

Cree claims the self-drive holiday is a very popular add-on as it provides travellers with the flexibility of their own tailor-made itinerary.

“As a high percentage of the visiting friends and relatives market have been to Canada before, customers do not always want to spend all their time with family.

“With such great air fares around in the winter months, travel agents should take advantage and encourage visitors to buy ground product which will earn them more commission.

“In the winter hotels are more affordable and available, car-hire prices are down and with low-cost fuel and a great rate of exchange it is more feasible to travel independently,” said Cree.

New horizons: Canada Flights and Holidays wants agents to encourage customers to considerexploring areas like Algonquin Park, rather than just sticking to the main cities
