Report by
Kirsten Bowling
based airline Gill Airways has predicted that it will see a modest profit for
November and December this year compared to over £1 million losses for the same
period in 1999.
No figure
has yet been put on the amount of profit the company has made for the first two
months of its financial year, but the return to profit comes after ten months
of restructuring while in administration.
Chief
executive Malcolm Naylor said: “Our profit in November and December will not be
huge, but if we can stay in profit in the depths of winter then prospects for
the year as a whole must be extremely encouraging.
Gill puts
the turnaround down to its cutting of loss making services including Bournemouth
to Teeside and its focus on its core scheduled services from Newcastle.
