Report by John Lavabre
A NUMBER of acquisitions has led Airtours to report an
increased seasonal operating loss for the quarter ending December 31.
The figure has increased from £46.1 million last year to
£52.3 million for the same quarter this year.
Total group bookings for winter 2000/2001 are up 4% and for
summer 5% while summer 2001 bookings are up 9% in the UK.
Airtours executive chairman David Crossland said: “We expect
the increased seasonal losses reported this quarter to continue through the
second quarter of the year, we remain confident that the actions in Germany and
North America, together with the current strong booking trends in all major
markets, will ensure that we have a very successful year in 2001.”
