MORE than 1,200 British tourists cut short their holidays in Marmaris, southern Turkey, after the country suffered its second earthquake in less than two months.
No-one was injured in the latest earthquake, which struck the resort of Marmaris at 3am last Tuesday, but tour operators said clients were scared and wanted to come home.
A JMC spokesman said: “It was inevitable that people would remember the earthquake in Izmit.”
Izmit was hit in August by one of the strongest earthquakes for 20 years, which left thousands of Turkish people dead. JMChas brought home 797 of a total 5,700 clients in Marmaris, while Thomson flew a further 350 home, leaving 1,650 in the resort and nearby Icemeler. Just over 120 First Choice clients also opted to return.
