* continental sees $9m profit for start of year
Continental Airlines has reported a $9 million profit for the first three months of this year. This marks the 24th consecutive profitable quarter for Continental and comes amid bad results from rival USairlines.
* air wales adds new daily flight to manchester
Air Wales has taken delivery of a second 18-seater Dornier 228 aircraft. The aircraft, which was previously owned by Scot Airways, will be used on Air Wales’ new twice-daily service to Manchester. Flight times are at 7am and 6pm from Cardiff, returning from Manchester at 8.45am and 7.45pm Monday to Friday. Return fares start at £99 including all taxes. Air Wales has also increased services to Cork from thee-times weekly to twice daily, departing Monday to Friday at 10.30am and 2.15pm, returning from Cork at 12.30pm and 4.15pm. Fares also start at £99.
* delta reports net loss of $122m
Delta reported a net loss of $122 million for the period ending March 31, compared with a net income of $172 million for the same period last year. Chairman and chief executive officer Leo Mullin blamed the slowing US economy and strikes by pilots at Delta and Comair. The loss is Delta’s first in 24consecutive quarters.
