The deal is part of a package of autumn offers which features up to25% off car hire forski destinations. Thediscounts start at 15%off weekly rental in Germany with rates from £16 per day.

&#42 hawaii authorities warn of disease risk

Healthauthorities in Hawaii are warning visitors of an outbreak of dengue fever on the island of Maui. Car rental companies and tour operators are handing out flyers to clientsoutlining the dangers of the disease, which istransmitted by mosquitoes and causes severe flu-like symptoms, vomiting and a rash. The risk to visitors is low as long as they use generous amounts ofmosquito repellent. So far, 19 cases have been recorded.

&#42 dfds seaways eyes conference market

DFDSSeaways will launch a meetings and incentives brochure for its Newcastle to Amsterdam cruise ferry Queen of Scandinaviathis month. Sales andmarketing manager Matthew Eastlake saidthe aim is to encourage companies in the Newcastle area to hold meetings on its vessel.

&#42 virgin to continue paying 7% commission

Virgin Atlantic has pledged to pay agents 7% commission indefinitely in a bid to fuel sales through the trade. Commercial executive director Paul Griffiths told Travel Weekly the airline could have saved millions of pounds by cutting commission, but it had instead decided not to restrict agents’ ability to sell Virgin.
