* coach group ditches royal caribbean deal
Independent Coach Travel has scrapped a deal with Royal Caribbean Cruises to operate its family cruise schedule for summer 2002. Following the attacks in the US, Royal Caribbean has deployed many ships, previously scheduled for Europe, to North America (Travel Weekly October 1) so the ships will not be in Europe to work with the coach company.
* new york marketing event rescheduled
The European Travel Commission and European Union have rescheduled their joint marketing conference ‘What must be done to rebuild transatlantic travel?’ for January 16 2002 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in New York. Originally scheduled for October 25 as a debate on the euro, the revised event will also address airline security and crisis management.
