THE Minister for Tourism, Film and Broadcasting Janet Anderson has launched a report indicating the importance of coach tourism to many local economies.
The report, entitled ‘The role of the coach in the economy’, maps out the vital role coaches play in the success of local tourist destinations, attractions and business across the UK.
“This report illustrates very clearly just how vital the coach is to tourist sites and attractions across the UK,” said Anderson.
Figures showed coach tourists spend £75m a year in Blackpool and £40m in Edinburgh.
Some 160,000 coach visitors travel to Leeds Castle each year with £1.5m spent on site.
