MORE than 250 people are feared dead following the American
Airlines crash in Queenstown New York earlier today.
It is reported that 246 passengers and nine crew were on
board when the plane crashed in the upmarket residential area of Rockaway near John
F Kennedy airport. At least 12 buildings in the area were set alight as a
result.
Eyewitnesses said they saw one of the engines fall from the
Airbus A300, en route to Santo Domingo, shortly before it crashed.
An American Airlines spokesman said: “The company will not
speculate as to the possible causes of the accident.”
