Operators call for US offers
UK tour operators are calling on their US suppliers to help persuade British holidaymakers to return to the country by offering reduced rates and special offers.
Thousands of UK holidaymakers cancelled their winter holidays to the US with only a limited number rebooking for summer next year, according to First Choice and Unijet long-haul general manager John Riley.
“Pre-Christmas we are coping with fixed capacity but at a cost, which is worrying,” he said. “We need bed-rate reductions, special offers, tactical offers for agents and media campaigns to help stimulate demand,” Riley said.
