industrial action at Manchester Airport

A NUMBER of one hour strikes are planned to take place at
Manchester Airport by members of the Transport and General Workers Union.

The first stoppage is set to take place on February 4, over
plans by the airport’s management to cut safety and security budgets,
potentially affecting 200 jobs.

Manchester Airport Aviation Services managing director David
Teale said the strikes will not affect the operation of the airport.

“If stoppages do go ahead, I want to reassure the travelling
public that there are robust contingencies in place to ensure that it will be
business as usual at the airport. Safety and security will not be compromised,”
he commented.
