dfds seaways passenger volumes up

DFDS Seaways has revealed a 16% increase in passenger
volumes for the half year compared to 2001.

Vehicle numbers on the North Sea are up from 62,380 to
75,240, an increase of 21%.

The strongest development was on the Newcastle to Amsterdam
route, which has seen a 41% rise in passengers and 30% rise in vehicles.

However, passenger numbers fell on the Newcastle to
Kristiansand and Gothernburg routes because the m.s. Princess of Scandinavia
was taken out of service for repairs for several weeks following a fire.
