EasyJet records £72 million profits

EASYJET has recorded a 78% jump in
full-year profits to £72 million on revenues of £552 million.

The
airline’s profit figures were boosted by the inclusion of recent acquisition
Go, which also helped increase passenger numbers by 60% to 11.4 million.

However,
chief executive Ray Webster warned the airline faces a number of uncertainties,
including the threat of war in Iraq, terrorist activity and the consumer
environment.

The
results mark the end of chairman and founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s tenure of
the airline. He will be replaced by former Vickers chief executive Colin
Chandler.

Haji-Ioannou said: “We have come an awful long way
since the first flight on November 10 1995 and it has been a true honour and a
pleasure to work with all of the 3,100 EasyJet family.”
