Alliance in bid to lower credit card charges

THE Independent Travel Agents’ Alliance has revealed
talks are already under way with a bank to lower credit card charges for agents
as members prepare to draw up a manifesto.

The news comes as Midconsort members agreed to sign up
to the alliance, swelling the ranks to 1,400 outlets.

Worldchoice chairman Colin Heal admitted “early stage”
discussions had begun on behalf of alliance members with an unnamed bank.

Meanwhile, alliance members are due to meet within
weeks to forge policies on co-operating on common issues such as commercial,
marketing, technology and training.

Worldchoice and the Travel Trust Association have been
joined by Midconsort, which saw a 83% vote in favour of signing up to the
alliance.
