Cresta cuts 40 staff

CRESTA
has made 40 staff redundant following a consultation period with workers.

The cuts, previously rumoured to have
been about 100 (Travel Weekly March 7), come from all areas including
ticketing, reservations, administration and customer services. The staff
affected left the company last week. Brand managers and senior management are
not affected.

Marketing
manager Jane Williams said: “We’ve been looking at a number of things,
including reducing travel costs, cutting advertising spend and not replacing
leavers. A restructure will put us in a stronger position to move forward.”
More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Williams
said the head-count reduction had not come from owners MyTravel, adding: “Any
company that doesn’t adapt to the rapidly changing market is not going to
thrive.”
