NETWORK provider Telewest is to scrap Rapid Travel
Solutions two years after it bought the travel technology developer in a deal
worth up to £10 million.
Rapid Travel Solutions chief executive Lawrence Hunt
has left the organisation, while Telewest is consulting with Rapid Travel
Solutions’ staff about their futures. Telewest travel sector head of sales and
marketing Keith Webber said it would concentrate on its core business of
broadband communication for the travel industry.
“We are managing the winding down of Rapid Travel
Solutions,” Webber confirmed. “The travel sector is still an important part and
a focus of Telewest’s overall business.”
Webber said Rapid Travel Solutions would
continue to honour existing contracts which would allow the company to operate
for up to a year.
