LASTMINUTE.COM vice-chairman Clive Jacobs is to leave the
company – after exactly a year in the job.
Jacobs, who sold his car rental broker Holiday Autos to
Lastminute in March last year for £39.7 million, told Travel Weekly he felt he had
“done his job” at Lastminute, but now was the right time to move on.
“Anyone who knows me will
not be surprised. I’m an entrepreneur and I love running my own business,” he
said.
“I feel very rewarded in what I’ve done with Lastminute.com
and Holiday Autos. I set out to do my best and make sure the sale of Holiday
Autos was successful, and that it was fully integrated with Lastminute.”
Jacobs, 43, said he had made no decisions about his next
move, but it’s likely he’ll remain in travel. He will leave Lastminute at the
end of June.
Holiday Autos will continue to be overseen by Ian McCaig,
Lastminute.com’s chief operating officer who was appointed to the board in
November 2003.
A replacement non-executive director for Jacobs will be
announced before his departure.
