ICKENHAM
Travel managing director Peter Reglar has been named as the new president of
Advantage Travel Centres – taking over from Roger Smith.
Reglar,
who was previously Advantage vice-president, secured almost two thirds of the
votes from the consortium’s 400 members over rival and former vice-president Di
Baker of Wellington Travel.
However
it’s likely Reglar won’t be in the job for long as the position of president
will be scrapped when Advantage gets the go-ahead to change into a
profit-making organisation.
“If
the change in the constitution goes ahead as hoped I won’t officially be
installed in the chair,” Reglar said.
The
consortium’s plans still have to be agreed by the courts and members.
“My
main goals are to try and get the legal process tied up and go out to members
with the plans,” he said.
