Transun introduces new resorts in bid to lift Croatian sales

Croatia specialist Transun has added new resorts and a country-wide coach tour for 2000 in an effort to help it turn round a disastrous 1999 performance.

Transun had a target of 15,000 clients this year before the Kosovo conflict brought tourism to a near standstill. The operator’s numbers slumped to 3,600.

For 2000, Transun has added the resorts of Baska Voda and Podgora on the Makarska Riviera and included the island of Mljet. A total of 22 mainland and island resorts are offered for 2000.

The company has also added a coach tour from Dubrovnik. The seven-day Grand Tour, which takes in Plitvice National Park, the capital Zagreb, Opatija, Zadar and Split, is priced from £899.

Tailor-made twin-centre holidays are another new feature of the programme. Prices start at £384 per person, pairing a week on the island of Korcula with a week in Dubrovnik in October.

Director John Healey said:”We’re aiming for 12,000 clients in 2000. There’s a lot of hotel capacity right now, so we can easily increase numbers if there is demand.”

Transun will start the season using Croatia Airlines’ scheduled services but will reinstate the charter programme it cancelled last year if bookings take off, Healey added.
