A THIRD of TUI UK’s sales will be dynamically
packaged by 2007, according to predictions by managing director
Peter Rothwell.
He said the proportion would increase from the current level of
10% as operators adapt to the changing demands of the market for
more flexibility in flights and accommodation.
Speaking at a German travel trade conference in Cologne,
Rothwell explained his growth plans for the UK to a German audience
and said “not all” of its 850 shops would survive the next five
years, but remaining shops would be a “viable service model for the
customer”.
He also said he plans to increase UK retail productivity to the
levels of its Scandinavian operations by getting agents to take on
call-centre duties.
At the end of last month TUI announced widespread restructure
plans, including cutting 800 jobs from all parts of the
business.
