Etihad launches new service to the US – 31 Oct 2006

Etihad Airways, the national airline for the United Arab Emirates, has launched its first daily non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and New York.

The route will be the airline’s second to north America, following Toronto. Passengers on the new route will have access to Etihad’s business bed’s Pearl Zone seats and its Diamond Zone seats which rotate 180 degrees allowing passengers to meet and dine together, as well as reclining into flat-beds.

The new Airbus 340-500 aircraft will also offer personal LCD video screens, power supplier and USB ports and built-in Relaxor Massage System. The new fleet is also fitted with the Thales TopSeries i4000 system which offers more than two weeks of continuous entertainment in a variety of languages.

James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Aiorways, said: “This new route is a significant milestone for Etihad Airways and we are extremely proud to be introducing our innovative approach to in-flight luxury to the American market after only three years in operation.”
