London Olympics organisers have used World Travel Market to outline how the travel trade can get involved the 2012 Games.
Airlines, operators and other industry bodies can be in the bidding to be associated with the Games and use the iconic five rings branding to promote their sponsorship.
2012 executives are also talking to the trade about the distribution of the nine million tickets to Olympic events.
Philip Bond, sponsorship and marketing director for the London Games, said opportunities were presenting themselves now to help the trade capitalise on the Olympics.
He said: “We have a chance to get this very right and one of the ways to show people what we are doing is to take a tour of the Olympic site.
“We also want to make this the most environmentally-friendly Games ever and get the whole country involved.”
The 500-acre site in east London is gradually taking shape as preparations continue for the stadium and other venues. Beard said building work will start in earnest next year.
In the final year to the run-up to the Games, Brits will also get the chance to sample the Olympic experience when stadia, venues and facilities are tested.
He also revealed that hotels in the capital have been asked not to hike prices to eye-watering levels and the London organising committee had received reassurances that rates would be reasonable. Beard also said that organisers were busy reserving thousands of rooms for delegates and the media.
Despite concerns over transport issues, Beard reiterated that this should be smooth with 10 overground and underground lines coming into the Olympic site.
