Factfile: Short breaks – Paris & Amsterdam

Paris

Paris is a good bet for both stag and hen weekends. As well as its easy accessibility from the UK with Eurostar, the city offers a wealth of sights and excellent range of restaurants. Nightlife varies from small, buzzy bars to chic clubs.

How to get there: Eurostar’s special offer for Paris has brought return prices as low as £45.

Accommodation: two-star hotels often represent Paris’ best budget option. One night’s bed-and-breakfast accommodation at a two-star hotel in the Latin Quarter typically costs around £35.

Amsterdam

There is a lot more to Amsterdam than its notorious red light district. That said, a lot of the city’s colourful nightlife emanates from here. The ‘anything goes’ atmosphere is visible from every laid-back coffee-shop to the more sophisticated bars and nightclubs.

How to get there: EasyJet offers a return fares under £100 – as with all EasyJet fares this is likely to be more expensive if booked last minute.

Accommodation: hostels are Amsterdam’s best budget option and there are many to choose from. Try the Globe on Oudezijds Voorburgwal, which offers accommodation – room-only – for under £20.
