Travelzest vows to acquire following profits hike – 10 Feb 2007

Travelzest has vowed to continue acquiring companies after announcing a profits hike of 597% to £404,000 for 2006.


The online and specialist operator saw turnover increase by 70% to £19.3 million for the 12 months to the end of October 2006 following the purchases of failed Tapestry Holidays, websites holiday.co.uk and flight.co.uk and Canadian online travel agency iTravel2000.com.


It also launched long-haul tour operation Faraway Holidays.


The new businesses have seen its gross profit percentage increase from 26% in 2005 to 37.8% in 2006


Chief executive Chris Mottershead said the company would continue to look at acquisitions to complete its portfolio with destinations-specific tour operator top of the list.


He hinted a South American specialist and an Africa operator to compliment The Best of Morocco could be bought.
