Travelzest has vowed to continue acquiring companies after announcing a profits hike of 597% to £404,000 for 2006.

The online and specialist operator saw turnover increase by 70% to £19.3 million for the 12 months to the end of October 2006 following the purchases of failed Tapestry Holidays, websites and and Canadian online travel agency

It also launched long-haul tour operation Faraway Holidays.

The new businesses have seen its gross profit percentage increase from 26% in 2005 to 37.8% in 2006

Chief executive Chris Mottershead said the company would continue to look at acquisitions to complete its portfolio with destinations-specific tour operator top of the list.

He hinted a South American specialist and an Africa operator to compliment The Best of Morocco could be bought.
