AIRTOURS head of specialist products Gary Wardrope has decided to leave the operator in order to join digital television service The Travel Channel on January 4.
Wardrope, who held his position at Airtours for six years, had been considering a number of options following various approaches from several companies (Travel Weekly September 22).
Wardrope said that he will be setting up a new travel division in order to sell package holidays over the digital TV channel.
“This is the way of the future. Ihave no doubt that The Travel Channel will be a key customer for Airtours,” he said.
He is being replaced at Airtours by senior marketing manager long haul Vicky Wilby, who becomes senior marketing manager for cruise and ski.
