The tour operator used by England’s ‘Barmy Army’ cricket fans has had its ATOL pulled.
The Civil Aviation Authority pulled Travel and Tours Anywhere’s £901,000 bond on April 30 after having repatriated 350 of its customers the previous week.
A CAA spokesperson said it took the action after the operator ceased trading.
Much of the repatriation of fans was organised by Barmy Army co-founder Paul Burnham, who was in Barbados, where the final of this year’s Cricket World Cup was held.
Travel Weekly was unable to contact anyone from Travel and Tours Anywhere. However, a source suggested the demise could be linked to the England cricket team’s disappointing performance in the competition.
The Hayes-based operator was featured on BBC One’s Watchdog programme last month following financial difficulties associated with the winter’s Ashes series in Australia.
