Spain bears brunt of late sales discounting – 28 June 2007

Package prices to half the top 30 destinations are down on last year with Spanish destinations bearing the brunt.

According to new research from Co-op Travel and Travelcare, Costa Blanca, Menorca and Ibiza have taken the biggest hits with the average price of a holiday for a group of four to the Spanish destinations down 13% on the 2006 price.

The head of Co-operative Travel Trading Group Mike Greenacre said: “With lower prices to be had across many of the most popular destinations this is a good time to use an expert, local travel agent who can search through all the deals on your behalf and find the best deal for you.”

Travelcare is trying to lure last minute holidaymakers by offering them Euros 50 euros, or the equivalent in another currency, on holiday bookings worth over £750 and taken between now and October 31.
