Flybe grounds aircraft for safety checks

Flybe has grounded six of its Bombardier Q400 aircraft for safety inspection of their landing gear.

Routes from the Isle of Man, Manchester, Southampton and the Channel Islands are subject to delay or cancellation.

Passengers are asked to check the Flybe website regularly if they are flying today. Tomorrow’s service is expected to operate as normal.

Manufacturer Bombardier and Goodrich asked for the checks after two of the aircraft crashed on landing in Europe in the last three days. The first happened in Aalborg, Denmark, on Sunday and the second on Wednesday at Vilnius, Lithuania. No-one was injured.
