LTB to highlight millennium attractions on WTM stand

The London Tourist Board will be showcasing its millennium attractions on its biggest World Travel Marketstand yet.

Millennium projects such as the £758m Dome and the 135-metre London Eye observation wheel, expected to carry 2m people a year, will be highlights.

Details of another recent addition to the city – the British Film Institute’s London Imax Cinema – will also be available. However, the LTB is also keen to point visitors towards more established products which have been revamped. The London Dungeon will be promoting its new attraction, the Great Fire of London Dark Ride. Similarly, Madame Tussaud’s is to get a major facelift in the new year.

Spokeswoman Louise Wood said:”Our message is that the millennium is not just about one day. It’s about the total regeneration of the city, not just in 2000, but beyond. It is important to show what’s new in London because a lot of visitors have been before and this will help agents sell the city.”

The LTB will be launching the 2000 issue of its travel trade handbook, and giving agents a chance to win tickets to London attractions and branded merchandise through a prize draw on the stand.
