The Association of Women Travel Executives has chosen Tricia Handley as its new chairman.
Handley, Pinpoint Communications managing director, was voted in on Tuesday night along with a new committee. She replaces New Frontiers managing director Julia Feuell, who has been chairman for the last two years.
The committee also has three brand new members: Travel Weekly sales director Jackie Anderson, who has taken on responsibility for membership on the board; Vertical Group communications manager Amanda Taylor, who has taken on responsibility for marketing and PR; GTC consultancy head Gill Craig, who has become committee secretary.
Other members of the committee are: Karen Ramirez, vice-chairman; Aphrodite Burton, events; Barbro Mcausland, treasurer; Bella Rangel Callan, benevolent.
Handley said the association would now embark on a recruitment drive to increase its profile in the trade.
She added: “The key to the future success of AWTE will be critical mass across a variety of travel sectors. Recruitment of new members will be a priority and the new membership campaign, driven by the new committee, will kick off in May. I believe the new dynamics entering into the AWTE will raise eyebrows and naturally result in an increase in membership.”
