NEW Caribbean specialist operator, Carrier, has earmarked Jamaica for a special sales blitz next year in an effort to raise the island’s profile and increase sales.
Speaking at the launch of the company’s 2000 brochure, Carrier’s Caribbean sales director Gloria Beyer said she would be going all out to sell Jamaica next year.
A targeted programme of advertorials in conjunction with Jamaican hotels are planned as well as agents’ educationals.
Beyer said:”Jamaica gets such bad press and it really doesn’t deserve it, it needs help.
“You won’t find higher standards anywhere else in the Caribbean and I am determined to put it back into the front of people’s minds as a quality holiday destination.”
“By the year 2001 I want to have 20 pages in the brochure, up from six, on Jamaica,” she added.
The Aspects of the Caribbean brochure has been bumped up in size by a third to 130 pages from 100.
The five-star CuisinArt Hotel and Spa in Anguilla has been introduced, as have three hotels in St Lucia.
These are Eastwinds, Ladera, which is the new Hyatt Regency hotel opening in January next year, and Windjammer Landing.
“We’ve had a fantastic 1999, which is our first year in operation and we are already well ahead of target for 2000,” said Beyer.
