Peter Deilmann Cruises aims for negotiated deals with agency consortia

Peter Deilmann Cruises aims to strike centrally negotiated deals with agency consortia and build stronger ties with homeworkers and online retailers.

The German-owned cruise specialist hopes some of this extra business will come from offering exclusive deals to agencies willing to put together their own parties of holidaymakers for specific cruises, particularly for itsriver cruise division.

Currently, the company – which does not have an on-the-road sales team in the UK – deals with agents on a one-to-one basis rather than having deals in place with consortia head offices or specialist groups of cruise agents.

Managing director Stuart Perl said: “We do not have central deals in place but it’s something I am looking at. One of the groups I hoped to work with are members of the Leading Cruise Agents group.

“We are trying tp develop close relationships with a manageable group of agents we are under no illusion as to the size of our company nor the position we hold in the cruise sector generally.

“To compete with major cruise companies for sales from the multiples is not really within our grasp.”
