Thomson and First Choice are to train their overseas beach staff in customer service.
Over 350 resort representatives working in the Canaries, Balearics and mainland Spain will take a National Vocational Qualification training in Customer Service.
It is the first time the company has put its resort staff through nationally recognised training courses. If the trial proves successful the initiative will then be rolled out across all resort staff – some will be trained in the UK and others in resort.
The NVQ is part of TUI Travel UK’s Learning and Development framework, which is aimed at providing opportunities for staff to develop their skills.
The NVQ scheme will be overseen by TFT (Training for Travel) assessors, who will administer exams under the NVQ Code of Practice and be responsible and accountable for managing the system of assessment.
