Royal Caribbean Cruises drops fuel surcharges

Royal Caribbean Cruises has dropped fuel supplements on Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises’ bookings made from November 10, 2008 for sailings that depart in 2010.

The decision has been made following the recent reductions in global fuel prices.

The company has established guidelines that will determine whether fuel supplement refunds will be provided for 2009 and later sailings, which were booked prior to November 10, 2008. This is dependent on whether fuel prices remain below a specific price threshold.

The company will determine on a quarterly basis whether these fuel supplements will be refunded. Refunds will be  provided in the form of onboard credit.

If the closing price of West Texas Intermediate fuel is $65 or less, at the closing time of the New York Mercantile Exchange, two weeks prior to the beginning of the upcoming calendar quarter the credit will be granted.
