IAG’s Level set to expand by flying out of Paris next summer

International Airlines Group new low-cost long-haul carrier Level is expanding by starting flights from Paris next summer.

Transatlantic flights starting at €99 one-way will run from Paris Orly to New York (Newark), Montreal, and to Guadeloupe and Martinique in the French Caribbean.

Level will replace IAG’s French operation called OpenSkies. It will use two Airbus A330 widebody aircraft each carrying 314 passengers in a two-class configuration.

The new budget arm of the British Airways’ parent company was established in Barcelona in June with flights to San Francisco, the Dominican Republic and Buenos Aires.

IAG plans is to use wholly-owned Spanish budget carrier Vueling to fly passengers to connect with Level flights which start in July.

Level’s Paris flights will be operated by staff currently working for IAG’s French airline OpenSkies which is based at the airport.

The OpenSkies brand will cease to operate at the end of next summer and all its staff will operate LEVEL flights.

IAG chief executive Willie Walsh said: “Barcelona was always a first step and we’re delighted to launch four exciting new routes from Paris.

“Like Barcelona, Orly is a Vueling hub which means that customers will be able to fly there from other parts of Europe to connect onto Level.

“We will also benefit from the local experience and knowledge of the OpenSkies team.”

He described Level’s Barcelona operations as being an “incredible success” and the airline will be profitable this year.
